Snill, Tune into "The Rocket" out of Las Cruces. 99.5. They play cutting edge music, the standards, and a FEW oldies mixed in for grins. And they DON'T flap their gums during the song intro. The "Q" is famous for doing that.

I like the rocket. It is good; however in some parts of town it comes in a little staticky so just be aware.

WOW, looks like NPT and Lisa Boreatoni...or whatever her name is will be going head to head against the Strelz in a program called "Charlando with the Gringa" per the press release on NPT. This "local new program" from 4-6 pm is on KBNA/KAMA and termed an experiment.
Good for them, but I will stick with the "Old Gringo---Paul".

I hadn't heard that but I really wish Sito was back on. Pretty good show there. Lisa D however, was pretty hard to listen to. I guess i wasn't really into the whole estrogen hour thing. Plus i found her kind of insulting to locals. But mostly the estrogen thing. Mark Levin is good for kicks and the sports ain't all that bad.

wow. I wonder if the MODS of this board (like others I have encountered) will start using word filters on things like newspapertree.com? Mgt. at KHRO should have been nicer to Sito -- who do you think got all "competing" paraphernalia off their website first -- it must be "somewhere" on Ables list of "things to do".

El Paso Media Group Lands at KAMA 750 AM, 4-6 p.m. June 19, 2008
June 19, 2008- El Paso Media Group is proud to announce a new radio presence on KAMA 750 AM, Monday thru Friday 4-6 p.m.
Lisa Degliantoni, the Editor in Chief of EPMG, will moderate the show titled “Charlando con La Gringa.” Listeners can expect to hear news at the top of the hour in Spanish (to be sponsored by leading Spanish media news outlets); regular radio personalities such as Newspaper Tree Editor Sito Negron, Newspaper Tree columnist David K, media consultant Felipa Solis and star investigative reporter David Crowder; and conversations with the top business owners, artists, politicians and decision makers in our community.
“We’re very excited to be working with Univision Radio, KBNA/KAMA. This is a daring experiment in local radio, which will gain us access to a new listening audience and allow our current listeners a place to find us on the dial and it’s important to me for Newspaper Tree to have a voice,” says Keith A. Mahar, Publisher of EPMG.
EPMG has been the leader in innovative media products for the region. With websites like www.inthe915.com and www.newspapertree.com and hyper local print publications like the El Pasoan and El Paso Magazine, EPMG captures a broad audience. “We cater to people across age and cultural barriers with our smart and creative content. This region is a fusion of cultures and we like to celebrate that, this radio show will be an extension of that” says Lisa Degliantoni, Editor in Chief of EPMG.
“Charlando con La Gringa,” which translates to “Chit Chat with the White Girl,” will add a bi-lingual, bi-cultural twist to local radio and starts Monday, June 23 at 4 p.m. on KAMA 750 AM. The show will be available for streaming at www.newspapertree.com.
EPMG produces Newspaper Tree (online newspaper), El Paso Magazine (city lifestyle) and The El Pasoan (the voice of Downtown) and In the 915, www.inthe915.com (entertainment).

whether this move to a Spanish language channel is great or not -- I'm not willing to speculate -- what I do know -- Sito is a mover and shaker -- with good sources, ambition and drive. KHRO mgt. treated him shabby (like MANY others) when they should have been utilizing his talents -- instead they pissed him off and lost the use of his resources.

I'm not. She is sooooooo boring on the air. She is a wealth of information, but I got so tired of hearing her repeat the same things over and over "when I was at city hall....."
"when I was at city hall....." "when I was at city hall....." "when I was at city hall....." "when I was at city hall....."
No matter. I wish her the best. I don't listen anyway.
